  • It Was A Great Day...

The celebrations of a 21 year old.

He woke up as he would have to go to work, earlier than he wanted. 8 am is not a time he or I really like but we will do so for those we love and for a few extra dollars.

He looked in the fridge and freezer and through the pantry, there was nothing he wanted for breakfast. Commenting he would like to have bacon and eggs I decided there and then that I would spend money on food for him for the day. He has so few days he eats what he wants because of not having the money to buy what he wants.

So off we went, BigE, LilE and myself, WahE and MidE had already eaten breakfast and didn't want to go out to eat, to get him some bacon, eggs, pancakes with hash browns. After breakfast BigE reminded me that he wanted to go bowling for his birthday. We arrived at the house to find that MidE hadn't done any of his school work for the day and was actually behind in his work. With much sadness we left MidE at home and BigE, LilE, WahE and myself went to go bowling.

We had so much fun, I must say, I have never done well at bowling. EVER. The wee little Eggos had fun through the first game but somewhere in the middle of the second game LilE decided he was done and hated bowling and pouted in the corner. This made BigE sad and start to not enjoy himself. So we left when the second game was done. (FYI I lost both games, 67 and 56 were my scores)

We took BigE to The store to get himself set up with a new fishing rig, bate, and some other odds and ends. Got home, he opened his presents the kids had gotten him.

After a while I had to run and get E and then got back. E went directly into his room. I took BigE and KND to the beach so BigE could use his surf rig he bought for his birthday and have a good end to a good day.

I ran home got MidE ready to go back to his father's house and as I was getting home at 830pm BigE called saying he was really cold could I come pick him up and bring a few towels.

Back  in the car I went, got BigE and home we went.

As we were walking into the house I asked if he had a good day.

Absolutely was his reply. He had a great day.

Now I have a full fledged 21 year old. He has 2 jobs, and is working and saving so he can move somewhere he wants. I bless him with the best in life.

  • The Amazing BigEGGO

I have to  boast about my,in two days, 21 year old.

Remember when I thought he was going to work at the local Ralphs Grocery store? Remember I said he didn't get the job but he may be added on to work roster in the next month or so if all goes well? I don't know if I told you that I was chatting with the owners of the  above House and I made some comment that in this world and the way things are right now it seems like the only jobs available are only if you know someone that is hiring and they like you. The lady of the couple that own the rental above us commented that she could really use some help getting the rentals ready as she has 4 that came up for rent all at the same time, which is unusual, or so she says. So....

I had BigE come up and meet her and her husband. She asked him, "Are you willing to work, work hard and take direction without complaint?"

    "YES!" BigE replied.

"Are you willing to not complain when I say something isn't being done right, I'm a big stickler when it comes to my houses and making sure they are worked on right. I will be very critical. So if you do something not up to my standards are you willing to take that direction and work harder?" she asked.

"I'll try my hardest and I learn really quickly." He responded.

"You are hired as long as you know this is just a temporary job." She said, "can you start tomorrow at 9 am?"

With excitement in his voice, "I'll be ready!!!!"

And we haven't looked back. It has been a whirlwind of a few weeks. He has been working 6 days a week, getting paid the next day for the day before, making quite a bit of money for him and he is doing a great job.

About a week in She came to pick him up  and while he was finishing in the restroom she told me he is a great worker, very personable, responsible, reliable and because of this she has recommended him for a job with a friend of hers. All we needed to do was get an application, fill it out, and take it in to XXXXX between the hours of  00:00 and 00:00 on x y and z days.

So, BigE and I picked up an application, he filled it out and took it in to XXXXX.

XXXXX asked him just a few questions and then hired him on the spot. He starts working evening shift in a little over a week.

He left and went to his job with The lady that owns the rental above me, and told her he had the job. She looked floored and asked if he would be willing to work both jobs till the work she needed was finished.

He just told her he would see how it went. He said he would try a few days and see if he can keep up. If not on his days off he will work with her, he needs to take the more permanent job over the temporary one.

Now to the biggest part of my bragging about BigE.

I was chatting with The Husband that owns the rental above me, I was taking a recipe for my banana oatmeal muffins up to him (at his request) and he told me how impressed he is with BigE.

HE said he finds it funny that his wife, who is not really a trusting person, is always coming behind BigE and trying to find fault with his work only to find that not only has BigE done a great job, he is consistently doing a better job than either of them.  He said that BigE is great at working. Each day they tell him exactly what they hope to get done that day and he is off doing the work. When one thing is done he get to the next item and works till they come and tell him to take his lunch. He eats and then is back to working and working hard.

HE is impressed with his work ethic, manners, gentleness and his ability to not take the constant checking of his work as a criticism or in a negative manner. He told me he wished he had a way to employ BigE all the time but he just doesn't have enough rentals to be able to hire him full time. He also told me that the woman that hired him is hoping that she can train him to take over for her as manager of that store as she is being training to become a regional manager. BUT he said he hopes that BigE  gets the work experience from the job and then moves on to a much better suited job for him. HE thinks that BigE is destined for greater things in his life.

I am so thrilled for BigEGGO. I know he has greatness in him. I know he is an amazing person. I am always glad to hear that others think so.

  • New Month

This new month has brought an interesting time in this house.

BigE had a job lined up, had gone through all the steps to get put on the books and then when the manager was scheduling him in she got a call from corperate telling her she had to take on 6 new workers from another store going out of business. So he lost the job, maybe only for a month or so.

MidE went to his fathers and has told me he is possibly moving to Texas AND Thomas says his father will cut him competely off if he doesn't move with him to Texas. He is not happy.

Then E came and told me  that his hours have been cut back and couple that with the new tax crap instead of bringing home close to 5000 he is only going to bringing in 3600. On top of that gas prices have gone up from 3.55 to 3.89 in the last 5 days. This isn't good for the pocket book with a car  that only gets 13 mpg.

LilE and WahE have been doing well on their school work so that is good.

This is why I haven't been around, I am not wanting to whine here.

In the good news, BigE is doing a temp job working on cleaning, painting and getting a few houses ready for renting. The people that own the house above us hired him, they are thrilled with the work he is doing and think he is an amazing person. They are going to recommend him for a few jobs with people they know that might hire him. So this may lead into a new job.

And as for me, I am eating better, I have been walking about a mile a day and I am getting ready for new and good things in my life.

How is your new month going?

  • sorry for my absence..

here in the eggo homestead we have been hit with the yuckies one right after the other. And has lasted now over 2 weeks.

I can't wait till all the yuck are done and gone. Right now MidE has it and is in the almost can't stop coughing phase. It is so hard for me to listen to him cough and not be able to do anything for him.

In other news, we are actively looking for new house to be in. With E, hopefully nearer to where I do all my shopping. The HOA has decided to cut down the trash can area in half. This happened a week ago and now we have trash blowing around the area. I even caught the kid down the way tossing a full bag over the fence because there was no room for his bag.

  • Monday 14 January 2013

My day started an hour after going to sleep. 4 am. It is a hard time to get up. Off I went and drove E to work. Back home by 5 and back to bed, sleep came to me at 5:30ish.

Back up again at 8 to get the kids set for school. This checked off, BigE and I with WahE in tow (he was being a butt about doing school work. LilE and MidE not wanting to be disturbed) left the house to take BigE to get drug tested for the job he may have. This is the last thing in the hiring process. If he passes this he has a job at the local grocery store Ralphs.

We arrived with 3 minutes to spare. BigE ran in to be on time, WahE and I parked and went to do some shopping, only I realized that I wanted to do something even better. Just next to the store a new Italian Cafe opened. I went in to see what is on their menu and found they have pastries, gelatto and the foods. I purchased a canoli and tiramisu gelatto.

Went and did my shopping and BigE was done.

We drove home to get the recyclables to take in and clean out that area.

BigE went and got the mail, to find that something I shipped a few days before had not been posted with proper amount of postage.

I left the boys to do the work and I drove to the post office.

As i was opening the door to go in an older woman (in her 60's?) was coming out, I held the door for her. A few steps inside there was an even older gentleman (in his 80's) coming out as well.

I noticed he had a cane so I just waited till he could exit and then I would go in, after all that is the proper thing to do.

He was even with me and said, "Thank you, that was kind of you."

    I replied, "My pleasure!!"

"You have good manners that come from proper upbringing." He said.

    "Thank you!" I responded.

"Don't thank me, thank your parents for doing a good job bringing you up properly. Seriously, if your parents are alive call them and thank them." he smiled then asked, "What is your name?" O

    I answered.

Offering his hand he said, "I am Maurice."

We shook hands, a good firm but  not too firm hand shake, smiling at each other and then he said, "I really hope to run into you often."

I smiled my biggest smile and said, "Me too, you have a great day!"

"You have been the best part of my day." He beamed.

We turned and went our separate ways.

I ran in and did my needed stuff, got home, loaded the car, did the recycling, shopped at TJ's, got E from his work and spent the last few hours of  my day playing games with BigE and MidE.

What an amazing Monday that was.

One thing, as soon as I got into my car, using hands free calling, I called my  daddy and thanked him for the good job he did with me as a kid, told him the story of why and we enjoyed a father daughter moment.

  • Doctor W

I forgot to say, this is a real bow tie. He is learning to tie it himself....this I tied for him. i don't believe in clip on's or short cuts. I don't like the kind that you clip around. IT makes it more personal and the time it takes to tie it you slow down breath deep and just be.

  • Starting the 5th...

...the 5th day of kids doing school work well.

I think they all need a good long weekend break. They have each worked hard and done their best. At times a little lazily but they have finished their work way before school gets out.

This weekend we will get out and play hard, unless it rains, then we will play games and read and laugh and watch movies. This weekend we will go out and have fun, away from the noise. I hope the people above will be done with their bangings and knockings and stomping and trompings. I hope to get away and do some driving. But most of all I hope that BigE gets his job he applied  and interviewed (2 times) for.

Right now I am off to play a few online games.

  • AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Thank you for allowing me that scream of agony. Mental agony if you must know. For the last 5 days the owners of the above me house (I am in a duplex) have been banging and hammering. I understand it is a must do sort of thing when one is fixing a place but I hear it in all my house.

I tried to get away only it isn't safe for me to do much walking about. I can't go to any other room and I can't go in the front yard as it is too windy, a bit rainy and the HOA are walking around looking at things and talking about stuff.

In spite of ,or just because I am that amazing , I had a great day yesterday. The kids all did their work, no lectures spilled from my mouth and the sun was out.

Here are a few funny things heard in my house...

    • A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, K, L, M, N, O, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z there is a letter missing where can it be?

in the toilet and going down the drain.

    • what kind of fish do Knights like?

      A swordfish.

    • When does a baseball player wear armor?

      At the night games.

    • Who made King Arthur's Round Table?

      Sir Cumference

Silly boys and their funnies they make up or hear.

In a bit more serious news, WahE has finally started to take his school work serious and is doing much better than before. I am glad he has been doing so well for the last three days I think the banging upstairs has keep the other household noises down to a minimum and he has less distractions.

LilE has been doing very well with his work for over 2 months. Ever since I mad this work space he has been doing even better.

MidE has been doing well with his school work but still struggling with his father and his fathers rules.
