  • Phone Update and other news....

    It took me a while to use my insurance on my phone, and I did. Just as soon as I did so (3 days after the fact) Samsung and Corning Gorilla Glass contacted me.

    Samsung wanted me to send them my phone and they were willing to change out the glass at MY cost..... $120.

    Corning Gorilla Glass wanted me to send them my phone and if it was accepted in the testing process then they would reimburse me from $200 all the way up to full price. If I wasn't accepted into the testing then I wouldn't get a dime or the phone back. (Seems a little fishy to me)

    So that leaves me with going with my insurance. I pay $100 deductible and they send me a new phone. This is what I have decieded to do. If I had more time (this took 2 days away from schooling my boys) I would keep contacting anyone and everyone till I get the recall on the glass. I have found over 400 people online that have complained and told the same things I have. And if there are 400+ of us I am sure there are way more than this. If there are that many more this should be recalled and a new glass put in at their expense. The phone itself is brilliantly wonderful but the glass....eeee not so much and something needs to be done.

    If this was a car it would have been recalled. If this was a baby item it would be recalled but as it is just a $600 dollar phone no one cares.

  • Kids

    we don't treat them the same, we don't love them the same and we don't talk to them the same.

    We treat them different because we love them different and we talk to them different because they are different.

    This doesn't mean we treat anyone as a favorite or a better human than the others.

    All my kids know I love them (I hope). They all are treated with respect by me and well...I treat them according to their age. I take BigE and do stuff with him I don't do with the younger kids because they are younger. As they get older I do more with them like I do with BigE.

    BigE is an adult and I treat him as such. He makes his own decisions.

    MidE is 16 and he has a lot he makes the decisions about because he needs the practice to being an adult so when he is an adult he can choose wisely because he has had practice.

    LilE is 10 there is loads I talk to him about. I rarely say "you are too young". I will explain what I can and I will tell him as he gets older he will understand what I said better.

    WahE is 9 and he is told the same as LilE....on their level but neither of them are talked down to. I talk to the age but as an equal. I am not better than them so why should I.

  • Letters I have sent just today.

    Dear Asurion,

    I know your job is to insure and replace phones, I know that there is fraud in claims, and I know you don't have the greatest of jobs, but when someone calls you for a claim and they have been paying for the last 5 or more years it would be in YOUR best interest to lower the deductible. I sat down and figured out that I have put close to 1000 into making sure that my products can be replaced in the event of well anything AT ALL. So with that 1000 you should be able to replace my corning gorilla glass (not to be mixed up with the gorilla glass company that produces smoking devices) for free.

    I am not happy with you. I am less happy with you because two of your phone employees talked less understandably than the Guy in INDIA that I talked to about trouble shooting my computer. I axed and axed questions and foshizzle it was really difficult to get any resolve because of our barriers. (Axed and foshizzle was used by the person on the other end of the line)

    Sincerely,

    ME

    Dear Samsung,

    I contacted you to find out why the glass isn't warranty-able as you are using it "for a more durable screen". It is brittle and shattered. It dropped from about a foot above the ground (knee level), the glass shattered and if it was a normal glass the chances of that result is near impossible. I have dropped cell phones from higher heights and the phone looked at me and rolled its eyes, said ouch and got up and we moved on together. Cell phones are supposed to be "Mobile" phones not "lay-on-the-grounds-only-when-in-use" phones. What gets my goat even more than the fact that you won't stand behind the new glass you are using to promote and have a more durable product is, you tell me to contact gorillaglass.com. And then you gave me a phone number for gorillaglass.com that I can talk to a live person, only gorillaglass.com and their # that goes with is a company that makes smoking glass (and if you go to them and order anything tell them Karen sent ya and I am talking to the other company about buying your domain name for the price you asked ) not corninggorillaglass.com the company that makes screen glass. Corninggorillaglass.com is the same company that makes the baking items corningware, pyrex, and such. You even told me that the company site is g o r r i l l a g l a s s dot com. After all this, you then tell me to help YOUR company out please bring this up at your website and talk to a person online. Only when I submitted reason to contact online you tell me to contact the phone # that I already talked with. *rolls eyes* **yes I AM THAT IMMATURE **

    I am tired of getting the run-around.

    Sincerely,

    ME

    Dear Gorrillaglass.com,

    Thank you for making me laugh today. I assure you that I WILL BE TALKING TO Corning Gorilla Glass and let them know it would be in their best interest to purchase the domain name for the price you asked. Just give me a kickback. thanks.

    Entertainingly,

    ME

    Dear Corning Gorilla Glass,

    I have been reading that I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE that thinks this version of gorilla glass is defective. I found that many more people have had similar products and your not contacting people like me because of it is uncalled for. I think you either need to pull your product and make sure people that have spent the money like I have are compensated for our loss or....wait there is on "OR" you need to stand behind your product and replace it. AT YOUR COST not mine.  Here is the link I found to prove that it is happening all over http://www.change.org/petitions/sprint-att-verizon-t-mobile-samsung-and-corning-inc-gorilla-glass-2-0-repair-or-replace-samsung-galaxy-s3-s-that-have-defective-gorilla-glass-2#

    Sincerely,

    ME

    To all the above companies, excluding the glass pipe making company,

    From Samsung's website:
    http://www.samsung.com/us/news/newsRead.do?news_seq=20180

    "The expansive display is protected by Gorilla Glass 2.0 to guard against cracks and scratches and provide enhanced touchscreen responsiveness."

    This is from their announcement of the S3. Samsung has removed all reference to Gorilla Glass in their current S3 description."

    ( from ME---Stand behind this claim. Stand behind your product. Or you will loose lots of business!!!)

    Repair or Replace Samsung Galaxy S3's that have defective Gorilla Glass 2

    There are many examples of how the glass on the Samsung Galaxy S3 is defective in forums, YouTube, and other online sources. Some with it breaking without impact. Other where it takes almost nothing to crack the screen. The responses from Samsung and the Cell Phone Carriers is that "ANY" glass issue is customer abuse. They need to investigate without their prejudicial bias, and possibly recall the phones that have the defective glass.

    I am reluctant to use anything linked with your products if you continue to pass the buck and say "ANY GLASS ISSUES IS CUSTOMER ABUSE". This is normal wear and tear. People use phones and accidents happen. I have dropped many a phone and not had damage. If I had dropped the phone from a height of something higher than 1 foot I would think "ok, this is my problem" but when you use a glass that is supposed to be more durable than standard glass it is breaks then I think it is your dime that should be spent. Not mine. I get it you don't want to stand by your products. You will end up paying for this attitude in the long run. I will go with the company that stands by their products even if it isn't exactly what I want than to go with the product that does the things I need but I end up having problems with like now.

    Here is a link to make this right.

  • Dear Corning Gorilla Glass,

    I just want you to know you are a fragile temperamental so-and-so. You are supposed to make my Cell phone, Sammy (Samsung S3),  stronger and better protected. Only I find that dropping you from knee height onto a slipper to have it slide off onto the floor you shattered. And now after 3 days of the entertainment you have provided, I am now back to having to use your predecessor.

    verrry unhappy with your brittleness,

    ME

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    To all of you that enjoyed my letter to "Sammy" I am sorry there was any confusion. I tend to get giddy when I get a new "toy" and name them. I also like to write silly letters to intimate objects.  Yes I am that odd.
    So the phone that I got and had fun with slipped out of my fingers as I was sitting and leaning over. It fell from about knee height and hit the ground. The glass that is supposed to be more durable than the normal glass on the cell phones it shattered around the edges and cracked all over the screen. So now I am waiting for his replacement to come on Monday.
  • Dear Sammy,
    I know we have been together for less than 12 hours and while I like you a lot, I am sad. You are constantly missing the words I am saying. I said "proverb" you thought I said, "call girl". I Said "proverb" you thought it was "robber". I said "Goodnight" you thought I said "mumbai" then "come by" and finally "rum pie". I have no girl to call everyone I know is a woman, I don't need a robber, I know where Mumbai is and I wouldn't mind if the male Brit that does your voice came by for rum pie, it is just not what I was looking for.
    The accent and well the other funny little things you said will make up for it. I think I will keep connected with you. I will use you as often as possible because you will be a valuable asset to my life.
    And thank you for telling me that you like me as well. Oh and is it okay if I call you Sammy or should I use your formal name Slll?
    Sincerely ,
    MahE
    PS, your clarity on how to use you is amazing, I wish your predecessors had been so user-friendly.
  • Dear vote counters,
    First off, thanks for taking the time to get paid to count our votes, I know it must be a stressful job as so much is riding on your work, but to throw away ballots because there were too many and it became intimidating is not an excuse. I know this is a thankless job if you are expecting an, "I'm sorry that it is sooooooo hard to count but thanks for doing the best you can. Even if the best means that all those people that knew they couldn't get in to vote and took their time to send in their ballots...."
    I can't even finish that sentence. On the news, I heard of this happening in more than one place. The person counting ballots said it was causing too much stress seeing all those absentee ballots so they tossed quite a bit.
    Talk about recount.
    Second, I have pent the last year listening to each person running badgering the other and telling me (seems like they have been screaming) to vote for them. I have listened to each person and wadded through all the info on each to make my informed decision. As did my father. And my mother. Even my son and I talked and well made our decisions. SO OUR time we took gets discounted and we go unheard if we don't have our ballots counted. I am one of those pesky "By the people, and for the people" the whole United States of America government is put in place to serve and protect and speak for, if they can't hear my voice because you find your job too tiring or stressful then I suggest you not do this job and leave it for someone else who can do this without those extra dozens of bags of ballots causing undue stress.
    Finally, I would gladly find someone to go and do your job if you are willing (even if you aren't willing) to be replaced.
    Thank you for your time.
    ME.
    Now everyone reading....go out and vote. It is your first civic duty as an american. If you don't go and vote quit complaining if you aren't willing to make your voice count.
    Yes I am a tad grumpy and yet feeling a bit like being silly.
  • Dear Broom company.
    I am writing with the sad news to tell you that the black broom you sold me has had problems. The head and handle have suffered and now are divorced. They have told me it is because of irreconcilable differences due to rubbing each other the wrong way. Where they should have meshed and joined together they just didn't from the start. I just thought you should know and I hope none of your other product has the same problems. Please either tell me how to get them through their problems or provide a solution we can all get along with.
    Thank you for your time, and have a nice day.
    MahEggo
  • what a day
    Sunday is no longer the day for me to pick up my MidE we changed that to saturday. So now my day i did a bit of cleaning and setting up for tomorrow as well as taking some time to just be a family with nothing to do. Sadly, I was wanting to get out and take kids to the beach but E had to work early so I was too tired from getting up a few hours too early and all the cleaning and walking about I have done so I am too tired.
    On tuesday BigE is leaving to go and do some work for about 3 weeks. I hope he has fun as well as changes his mood and comes  back ready to do the classes he is supposed to take. We'll see.
  • Happy Halloween!!!
    Here it is, another year with costumes and candy and kids getting sick.
    I was hoping this year, it would be the first in 6 years, the kids would make it through halloween without getting sick and we could run amok tonight. Sadly, this didn't happen.
    WahE woke up a few mornings ago with a slight stuffed up nose. I groaned internally thinking that by tonight the whole house would be sick and I would have wasted my money on making costumes. By making I mean finding the pieces and paying  for them and if I can't find a piece making what is needed.
    I was lucky, or should I say WahE was lucky, he ended up just netti potting his nose and he was fine by the end of the day. Then this morning LilE woke up with no voice. He drank hot liquids, chamomile tea, soup, warm water. He used the netti pot. And by this evening he sounded fine. He even said he felt fine. So off we went.
    WahE wanted to go as Tintin. We shopped and found each piece, most of them at The Childrens Place, I made the rucksack, we got the Snowy stuffed animal at amazon.com and well he already had the red hair and he was set. He sure is a good looking kid with the right clothes  he looks great.
    LilE wavered often and I didn't have the time to really figure out how to make his costume till he finally settled on Shadow Link. He loves The legend of Zelda and he likes finding out fan fic about it that is where Shadow Link comes from as well as one of the games. We bought him a black pair of pants, black scrubs, 2 inch black mens belt, White long sleeved shirt, and his black boots were bought from places such as Target, Costco, The Exchange, and a medical supply shop. The gloves were made by me as was the hat. The katana and strap to hold it onto his back from Amazon.com.
    The best part of this costume is most of it, like WahE's, can be worn daily. Or at least whenever he wants to.sd
    It was a great night. We dropped off MidE with his father and ran off to trock or treat. The place we go to had one house that does a haunted house in the few blocks we go to. We walked a total of 2.8 miles and found 2 houses that created haunted houses in their area. It was funny, LilE screamed till he was hoarse. Sadly after that he is no longer feeling fine. His throat hurts. The only down side was...
    I promised the boys that we would go out for breakfast for dinner. When we got to the place we were going to eat, they didn't have any room. We were told that they only had one server and she already had 6 tables with more that 6 in each party. So off to home we went.
    So at 9 at night the kids finally were fed.
    Fun was had by all and the kids are loaded up with candy for the next few weeks....or more.
